FromSoftware went on a multiplayer-focused venture with its latest project, Elden Ring Nightreign. While the title is trying something new with this spin-off, it seems fans have already answered the call to arms quite effectively, with the studio today announcing that the game has already sold over two million copies. At the same time, information about the first patch has also been revealed.
"Darkness fell over Limveld, and two million Nightfarers rose up against it," said the studio in social media today. "Thank you for your support." Considering the title is not available on any subscription services, these should be straight sales for the company, meaning it has at least sold two million copies.
User reviews aren't faring very well for the title, though. Over on Steam, despite peaking at over 300,000 players as the weekend approaches, reviews are currently 65% positive, giving it a Mixed rating. Most of the negative reviews seem to stem from the lack of two-player play, not enough weapon and enemy variety, and the lack of voice communications. The rough solo playthrough experience is also highlighted here.
In our review of Elden Ring Nightreign at Neowin, I also mentioned many of these faults surrounding the game and mainly recommended the title for action game fans and not Soulslike followers.
It seems FromSoftware is listening to the feedback, though. It also shared via social media today that the game's first post-launch update will be landing soon, and it will carry changes aimed at making solo expeditions more tolerable.
"Next week, Patch 1.02 will be released and will include several bug fixes as well as improvements for solo expeditions," explained FromSoftware. While the more intricate details will be revealed next week, the studio said that an "Automatic Revival Upon Defeat" effect will be given to solo players with the update. At the same time, the amount of runes they gain will also be boosted for easier leveling up.
The following improvements for solo expeditions will be added to the game:
— ELDEN RING (@ELDENRING) May 30, 2025
- The effect "Automatic Revival Upon Defeat", which allows revival once per night boss battle, will be added to solo expeditions.
- The amount of runes gained will be increased.
Thank you for your support.
Elden Ring Nightreign is now available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 with a $39.99 price tag.
